The International University Foundation Programme (IUFP) is a one year full-time pre-degree course, which offers students a fast track alternative to GCE A levels and an entry route to prestigious Universities for degree courses.
The course lasts for one year.
Students must have completed the Secondary High School education in their own country and be at least 16 years old. They must possess Five (5) Credits at GCSE ‘O’ Level standard (or equivalent), which must include English language and Mathematics.
The course commences in January and September of every year.
Six (6) subjects are studied – three (3) core compulsory subjects and three (3) electives chosen from a choice of seven.
Students undertaking the IUFP are required to obtain an overall Band Score of 6.5 (6.0 in each sub-test) by the time they complete the programme. Unless a student already possesses an IELTS overall score of 6.5 with 6.0 in each sub-test, all IUFP students are required to undertake the IELTS exam at the end of the programme. The Academic English module of the course is designed to improve the English language competence of IUFP students in readiness for their degree studies at University.
The programme will be assessed throughout the academic year by a variety of methods including assignments and written examinations (3 hour unseen paper).
End of session examinations will be held in June and December, whilst re-sits are held in March and September of every year.
For students studying in their home country, examinations will take place in their home country. However, the examination papers will be marked and moderated in the United Kingdom.
Traditional and modern methods, such as lectures, seminars, tutorials, group work, presentations and internet resourced based learning.
The IUFP Team will provide assistance with respect to the purchase and supply of textbooks which are designated as essential reading for the students on the IUFP course. These will be supplied to the students through your College/School in your home country. E-Books are scheduled to be introduced before the commencement of the September, 2019 academic session.
The course is designed for 16 hours of study per week on average inclusive of classroom teaching and tutorials. Additional 16 – 20 hours of personal study per week is also advised in order for students to succeed in their examinations.
